About The Position

The Vascular Technologist at CarolinaEast Health System is responsible for interacting with patients and their families in a caring and considerate manner, providing care with the highest regard for the patient's mental, spiritual, and physical well-being. This role involves performing a comprehensive range of vascular studies, including Carotid duplex, Aorta duplex, Vein mapping, Venous duplex, Arterial physiology studies, Arterial duplex, Renal/SMA arterial duplex, Arterial By-Pass grafts, Dialysis Access grafts, pre-op dialysis access evaluations, venous insufficiency exams, and ABI's. Services are delivered to infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients across various settings within the hospital, laboratory, and physician offices. The technologist ensures diagnostic testing is available 24/7 and has on-call responsibilities. This position requires the individual to perform duties with indirect, minimal supervision and make many independent decisions. Requirements

  • Registered as a Vascular Technologist required within one year of employment
  • Prior experience performing peripheral vascular testing required
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
  • Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures
  • Must maintain current AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in that specialty area

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Vascular Technologist preferred
  • College degree in Health Science or Allied Health preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver services to infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in all areas of the hospital, within the laboratory setting, and in the physician office setting
  • Make diagnostic testing available 24 hours per day/seven days per week
  • Perform On-Call responsibilities
  • Perform the duties and responsibilities with indirect, minimal supervision
  • Make many independent decisions
