About The Position

The Vascular Technologist is responsible for performing various vascular studies including Carotid duplex, Aorta duplex, Vein mapping, Venous duplex, Arterial physiology studies, Arterial duplex, Renal/SMA arterial duplex, Arterial By-Pass grafts, Dialysis Access grafts, pre-op dialysis access evaluations, venous insufficiency exams, and ABI's. This role involves interacting with patients and their families in a caring manner, providing care with high regard for their mental, spiritual, and physical well-being. Services are delivered to infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients across all hospital areas, laboratory settings, and physician offices. The technologist ensures diagnostic testing is available 24/7 and has on-call responsibilities. The position requires performing duties with indirect, minimal supervision and making independent decisions. This is a 13-week contract assignment, not to exceed 26 weeks, with a salary of $70.00 per hour plus applicable shift differential. It requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the specialty area and involves 36-40 hours per week, including rotating weekends and call.

Requirements

  • Registered as a Vascular Technologist required within one year of employment
  • Prior experience performing peripheral vascular testing
  • Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
  • Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs
  • Ability to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures
  • Maintain current AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the specialty area

  • Deliver services to infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in all areas of the hospital, within the laboratory setting, and in the physician office setting
  • Make diagnostic testing available 24 hours per day/seven days per week
  • Perform duties and responsibilities with indirect, minimal supervision
  • Make many independent decisions
  • Participate in on-call responsibilities
