About The Position

Temporary Internal Registry Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift for Emergency Services in Evanston, IL. The assignment is expected to last 12 weeks, with ongoing evaluation based on operational requirements. The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering safe patient care using the nursing process, providing direct patient care within their scope of practice, and directing/guiding patient/family teaching and other nursing personnel. They are accountable for care in the Emergency Department, communicating with physicians about patient condition changes, and responding quickly to changes. Knowledge of EMTALA regulations, reporting child/adult abuse, and maintaining patient privacy is essential.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • ECRN or MICN certificate required within 12 months of hire and maintained current.
  • EDAP certified facilities: Completion of required annual education.
  • Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Trauma designated facilities: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire and maintain.
  • Non-trauma facilities, TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry.
  • Directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
  • Capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment.
  • Knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
