About The Position

Temporary Internal Registry Registered Nurse (RN) – Day Shift for Emergency Services. The assignment is expected to last 12 weeks, with potential adjustments based on operational requirements. The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering safe patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They provide direct patient care within their scope of practice, guide patient/family teaching, and direct other nursing personnel while maintaining professional standards in Telemetry. The RN is directly accountable for patient care in the Emergency Department, communicating with physicians about patient condition changes, diagnostic results, and symptomatology. They must respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition, be knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations, and report child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and the Hospital Social Worker. Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality is essential.

Requirements

Current and valid state RN License.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
ECRN or MICN certificate required within 12 months of hire and maintained current.
EDAP certified facilities: Completion of required annual education.
Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
Trauma designated facilities: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire and maintain.
Non-trauma facilities, TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

Delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.
Directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry.
Directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department.
Communicates with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
Capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment.
Knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
