About The Position

The Internal Registry Registered Nurse (RN) works in the Float Pool in Joliet and provides safe patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Float RN may be assigned to two or more units based on operational needs and must maintain competency to practice in all assigned units. The assignment is expected to last 12 weeks, but staffing needs will be evaluated ongoing and may be adjusted. This is a temporary, PRN, day-shift position. The stated compensation estimate is $57.50 per hour; final starting compensation depends on factors including skills, applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate from ARC or AHA upon hire and maintained thereafter.
• Current ACLS certificate from ARC or AHA within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Current PALS certificate from ARC or AHA within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter, only for floating into E.R., O.R., PACU, or Day Patient.
• For employees floating to Women's Services, NRP and Basic Fetal Monitoring or AWHONN within 90 days.
• For employees floating to the Emergency Department, TNCC within 12 months of hire.
• Ability to float to two or more units and maintain competency in assigned areas.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Float to two or more units as needed and maintain competency in assigned units.
• Direct and guide patient and family teaching and the activities of other nursing personnel.
• Remain accountable for the care provided to assigned patients on the assigned unit.
• Communicate changes in a patient's clinical condition, diagnostic study results, and symptoms to the physician.
• Respond promptly and accurately to changes in a patient's condition or response to treatment.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
