About The Position

The Internal Mortgage Originator is a mortgage origination position for PSECU’s Mortgage products. This role involves consulting with and advising borrowers on 1st Mortgage product options, guiding them through the entire mortgage loan process from prequalification to closing. The position requires professionalism in interactions with members and realtors to promote PSECU. Responsibilities include handling incoming calls, emails, and live chats regarding mortgage inquiries, qualifying borrowers, originating applications, collecting necessary loan documentation, and submitting loan files for disclosure, underwriting, and approval. The originator will also review loan documents and timelines with borrowers, maintain communication with processors and underwriters, and ensure RESPA compliance. Additionally, the role involves assisting with training new employees, supporting projects for revenue growth, performing data entry, assisting with LOS upgrades or new product testing, maintaining confidentiality, and resolving member problems professionally. Compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Bachelors (Required)
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Established sales experience with realtors, builders and/or affinity groups.
  • Three years' secondary market origination experience.
  • NMLS/MLO - PA Dept of State

Responsibilities

  • Consult with and advise borrowers on 1st Mortgage product options to educate and guide borrowers through the entire mortgage loan process from prequalification to closing.
  • Display professionalism in dress attire when meeting members, realtors, etc. to promote PSECU.
  • Handle incoming calls and emails into the mortgage origination call queue.
  • Handle incoming live chats with members regarding mortgage inquiries.
  • Qualify borrowers.
  • Originate applications.
  • Collect needed loan file documentation from borrowers.
  • Submit loan files in a timely manner to be disclosed, underwritten, and approved.
  • Review timelines, prequalification letter, estimated cost sheet, loan disclosure documents, conditional approval letter with conditions and CD with borrowers.
  • Follow-up to keep realtors and borrowers informed throughout the loan process.
  • Maintain communication with processors and underwriters for loan status and loan file gets cleared to close on time.
  • Review pipelines to be sure all new loans are decisioned to meet RESPA compliance.
  • Maintains an organized work area.
  • Assists with on-the-job training of new employees in the unit.
  • Assists with projects as assigned in support of Revenue Growth and Lending mission and objectives.
  • Perform data entry and clerical/general office support work as assigned.
  • Assist with testing of LOS upgrades or new products.
  • Maintain confidentiality, in particular with credit union account information, as well as other information designated as confidential.
  • Resolve borrower/member problems professionally whether over the phone, in person or through correspondence.
  • Recognize early signs of member disservice and staff related problems and convey concerns and or problems promptly to immediate supervisor.
  • Comply with and meet all requirements regarding the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act, 12 CFR 365).
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
