About The Position

Rocky Vista University Health Center in Englewood, CO has an opening for a Internal Medicine Staff Physician (Part-time). The Primary Purpose of this role is to provide both indirect supervision with direct supervision immediately available and direct supervision of internal medicine residents in their continuity clinic. This includes teaching residents the full scope of primary care services which fall under the specialty of internal medicine, including diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care, and health maintenance to patients. The physician will also demonstrate experience and expertise in clinical medicine when instructing medical students in the college of osteopathic medicine, including the early clinical experience in the 2nd year.

Requirements

  • MD/DO Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification in appropriate area of specialization if applicable.
  • Current D.E.A. Certificate.
  • Hold and maintain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Colorado.
  • One (1) - three (3) years working in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, delegation skills, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the delivery of medical care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of varied health care systems and insurance providers.
  • Demonstrate ability to mentor and motivate faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the delivery of medical education.
  • Demonstrated leadership and productivity in the areas of clinical or professional service and health care delivery.
  • Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies.
  • Eligible for coverage by college’s malpractice insurer if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain health history and perform physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and direct counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment.
  • Prescribe medication in accordance with Colorado statute and professional practice guidelines.
  • Arrange referral for patients requiring services not offered at Rocky Vista Health Center.
  • Review incoming reports (e.g. lab, x-ray, EKG) sign, date and follow-up in a timely manner.
  • Comply with the Rocky Vista Health Center Infection Control plan which includes personally utilizing universal precautions.
  • Ensure compliance by support staff.
  • Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.
  • Assist in outside medical public relations functions.
  • Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings.
  • Instruct medical students while providing mentorship and motivation for learning in the clinical setting.
  • Participate in lab supervision of OMM students.
  • Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional actions and performance.
  • Demonstrate and role model an ongoing ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and support staff.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and willingness to assist the university and college in fulfilling its mission and vision.
  • Advance the prestige of the University and College through advancement of its mission, vision, and my personal career.
