About The Position

Geisinger General Internal Medicine (GIM) is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) Internal Medicine physician for an outpatient primary care opportunity at the Geisinger Internal Medicine Clinic in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The GIM practice offers immediate access to ancillary services and strong sub-specialty support, ensuring physicians can focus on delivering exceptional patient care. The role involves caring for patients aged 18 through geriatric, with a structured schedule: 40-minute appointments for new patients, annual physicals, and patients over age 65, and 20-minute appointments for follow-up patients under age 65. The position emphasizes excellent work-life balance with phone call coverage only and provides teaching opportunities for General Internal Medicine residents (PGY 1–3) and medical students from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Physicians will benefit from immediate access to on-site ancillary services like Radiology and Phlebotomy, and support from an on-site care team including RNs, LPNs, CMAs, and Case Managers. The practice utilizes Epic EMR and a new Ambient voice dictation tool to streamline documentation and reduce clerical burden.

Requirements

• BC/BE Internal Medicine physician
• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
• Licensed Medical Doctor - State of Pennsylvania

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional patient care
• Perform Executive Health Exams
• Conduct Geriatric Assessments
• Perform Pre-Surgical Risk Assessment & Optimization
• Provide Acute Care Clinic Services, including IV Therapy (Diuretics and Antibiotics), Lab Procedures (Point of Care Testing, Hemoglobin A1C, Urinalysis and Urine Pregnancy), Retinal exams for diabetic patients (in coordination with Ophthalmology), and Vaccine administration
• Manage a conventional Internal Medicine practice
• Care for patients ages 18 through Geriatric
• Precept General Internal Medicine residents (PGY 1–3) and medical students from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine
