About The Position
Skilled Wound Care is hiring Internal Medicine Physicians in Brentwood, TN to work as wound care physicians and lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities across the area. This role offers a high-impact career without the corporate red tape, providing an alternative to hospitalist or outpatient internal medicine roles that may involve long shifts, nights, high patient censuses, discharge pressure, packed clinic schedules, and after-hours messages. The position is a no-call, Monday-Friday job that allows physicians to utilize their Internal Medicine training to care for patients with chronic wounds, which are often linked to comorbidities like diabetes and vascular disease. Physicians will also have the opportunity to add procedures such as surgical debridement to their practice, with full training provided. The role emphasizes clinical autonomy, allowing physicians to direct patient outcomes based on their expertise, and utilizes custom software designed to reduce administrative time. Physicians will follow patients through their healing process, building lasting relationships.
Requirements
- Medical Degree: MD or DO from an accredited institution
- Medical License: Unrestricted/clear medical license in the state of practice (or eligibility to obtain one)
- DEA License: Or eligibility to obtain one
- Open Background: We welcome Internal Medicine physicians and hospitalists, as well as Family Medicine physicians and surgeons of all backgrounds.
- No previous wound care or procedural experience is required; we provide comprehensive wound care training
Responsibilities
- Surgical and sharp debridement and other bedside procedures
- Evaluation and treatment of chronic, non-healing and complex wounds
- Management of the underlying conditions that affect wound healing
- Advanced dressings and specialized wound protocols
- Collaborative care in skilled nursing facilities and the post-acute setting, where you follow patients through healing
