About The Position

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is seeking a collaborative, highly organized Internal Communications Specialist to join their team on a 6-month contract basis (mid-October through mid-April, 2026) to support day-to-day internal communications during a team member's leave. Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, this role will serve as the hands-on operational hub for internal messaging, slide deck creation, channel management, and company meeting execution. The specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams to help draft clear messages, maintain internal publishing schedules, and keep employees informed and connected.

Requirements

  • 2–3+ years of hands-on experience in internal communications, corporate communications, employee engagement, or marketing operations.
  • Ability to work in person at the Devens, MA campus to support hands-on meeting execution and cross-functional team coordination.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and line-editing skills with an ability to turn raw information into clear, easy-to-read employee communications.
  • Strong visual eye for presentation design, layout formatting, and brand consistency (Google Slides).
  • Comfortable using generative AI tools as an efficiency multiplier in daily workflows.
  • Ability to take direction from the Head of Internal Communications, manage tight daily deadlines, and work effectively with cross-functional partners across the company.
  • Perform extended activities such as stooping, climbing, typing, standing, sitting, etc.
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call regularly.
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenics.
  • Compliance with U.S. laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information (collectively, “Export Control Laws”).

Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, and publish concise, brand-aligned messaging, including emails, Slack updates, Confluence, and digital signage.
  • Act as the primary coordinator for internal communication submissions, working with cross-functional leads (Safety, Facilities, IT, People Operations) to advise on content, review and schedule their communications.
  • Work with presenters to organize, reformat, and refine presentation slide decks to align with company branding and formatting standards.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, presenter schedules, slide decks, and audience Q&A tools for company All-Hands meetings.
  • Assist with live meeting setup in Devens—working with AV/IT teams, managing Q&A platform, and drafting post-meeting recap emails and summaries.
  • Administer the logistics and communications for employee recognition programs, including nomination reviews, slide updates, manager notifications, and award delivery.
  • Maintain the internal communications editorial calendar to keep coordination and scheduling on track.
  • Project manage the execution of internal comms projects and messaging.
