About The Position

1. Perform ongoing monitoring to ensure that internal controls, policies, and procedures are in place and are being followed. 2. Identify, track, respond, mitigate, correct and report on all findings and recommendations of audits, examinations and special projects related to the internal controls of bank operations. 3. Perform a determined audit scope of internal audits for specified operational areas and the internal controls and policies and procedures related therein. 4. Serve as the primary staff and management resource for questions, direction, feedback, etc. related to policies and procedures for the operational areas of the bank regarding the internal controls and risk mitigating controls contained therein. 5. Serve as the primary contact, resource and conduit for third party and external auditors, examiners and consultants as they relate to audits, exams, projects and the ongoing operational effectiveness of the policies, procedures and processes for the operational areas of the bank and the internal and risk mitigating controls contained therein. This includes: • Performing initial audit/exam material requests receipt and collection as well as coordinating and managing the collection and delivery of these to the third parties and/or external parties requesting such. • Managing all follow-up and additional material requests, collection and questions, issues, etc. with bank management and staff. • Serving as the primary conduit between the bank and third-party auditors, examiners, etc. as well as the Compliance Officer/Department in this regard. 6. Serve at the direction of the Compliance Officer and coordinate with the Compliance Officer as well as the Compliance Internal Auditor to prepare information for the various committee meetings of the bank. 7. Consult with staff, management, external sources, etc. and make recommendations for improvements in the internal controls as well as the internal control culture within the bank. 8. Risk Assessment monitoring and updates.

Requirements

  • Extensive bank operations and audit experience and knowledge required
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability and desire to continually learn as well as teach difficult concepts and/or processes related to the operational controls and risk mitigating controls in banking
  • Teamwork and dedication to developing strong relationships with coworkers
  • Able to maintain consistent attendance record in a flexible Monday through Friday schedule

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred and ideally in business, accounting, finance, etc.
  • College degree(s) and certifications enhance bank operations experience. Also, degrees and certifications may serve and provide credit for some years of experience.
