About The Position

The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) is seeking an Internal Auditor Trainee with the ability to work independently and great attention to detail. This position requires travel to licensed gaming facilities and other locations. The IGB serves as the regulatory body for all gambling activities across the state of Illinois, administering a regulatory and tax collection system for casino gambling, video gaming, and sports wagering. This position is a union position, and provisions of the relevant collective bargaining agreement apply.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor’s degree, with coursework in auditing, business management, public administration, economics, computer science, accounting, or other related subjects.
Requires the ability to pass Illinois Gaming Board’s background investigation (background check).
Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
Requires proof of current automobile insurance.
Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/ mandated to work overtime, including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
Must comply with the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act regarding ownership interest in gaming licenses.
Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act regarding employment with the Board and financial interests in gambling operations.
Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act regarding prior employment or compensation within the year preceding employment.
Revolving door restrictions apply to this position; employees must notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) if offered non-State employment during or within one year after State employment.

Prefers one (1) year of professional experience applying state laws, statutory mandates, administrative rules, regulations, policies, and procedures when auditing an agency’s functions and programs.

Responsibilities

Receives instruction and on the job training on how to properly review and process requests from all types of gaming licensees.
Learns techniques to identify internal control weaknesses and corresponding level of problems.
Participates in discussions with gaming licensees, internal staff, and Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) enforcement personnel.
Records work activity into an automated Illinois Gaming Board System.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
