About The Position

MDU Resources offers this internship to provide students with on-the-job experience applying their field of study and to identify potential candidates for future opportunities. The beginning and ending dates are negotiable. Hours may vary from 10 to 25 per week depending on business needs and the college schedule, with the possibility of working up to 40 hours per week during summer and school breaks. The successful candidate is responsible for making safety the number-one priority in their daily work routine for themselves and others. The position may be eligible for scholarship funding. The hourly wage is $20.00. The application deadline is November 11, 2026, at 11 a.m. CST.

Requirements

Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program majoring in accounting, finance, management information systems, or a related field.
Be able to work onsite at the Bismarck, North Dakota corporate office.
Be legally authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not considered.
Undergo pre-employment drug testing and background checks.

Nice To Haves

Currently enrolled as a sophomore or junior in an undergraduate program.
May be required to maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Assist in conducting audits or reviews of assigned organizational and functional activities.
Interview company personnel.
Gather audit data or evidence.
Prepare workpapers, such as memos, schedules, spreadsheets, or other documentation, to convey audit testing results and conclusions.
Prepare recommendations to correct unsatisfactory conditions, improve operations, and reduce costs.
Work on data analytic projects.
Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.
Prioritize safety in the day-to-day work routine for oneself and others.
Take measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from cyberattack, damage, or unauthorized access.
