2027 Internal Audit - Information Technology & Cybersecurity Summer Internship
About The Position
This is a 10-week on-site internship program for Summer 2027, open to current juniors. It is designed for students studying cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, data analytics, or related fields, with a particular interest in cybersecurity. The internship offers a chance to apply curiosity at a global financial firm, gaining insight into systems that move money, safeguard client data, and keep global markets running, while helping to ensure these systems are defended against evolving threats. It combines investigative work with technology deep dives, providing a head start in cybersecurity, IT audit, risk, or technology consulting. The program aims to identify future hires and leaders for BBH.
Requirements
- Currently a junior in college, entering your senior year in Fall of 2027.
- A background in information technology is required – through your major, minor, coursework, certifications, a prior internship, or hands-on project work. Common fits include computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, data analytics, software engineering, and management information systems, as well as finance, business, or accounting students with a genuine technology focus.
- Strong academic achievement as evidenced through a GPA of 3.3 or higher.
- Demonstrated leadership through academic, extracurricular, club, or work experience.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills – you can explain something technical to someone who is not.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, sharp attention to detail, and a questioning mindset.
- Solid proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint – think multi-sheet analysis, linking data across workbooks, advanced formulas, and building charts that tell a story.
Nice To Haves
- A background and demonstrated interest in cybersecurity is strongly preferred – for example, security-focused coursework, a cybersecurity concentration or certificate, participation in a cyber club or CTF competition, security certifications, or personal projects in areas such as network defense, ethical hacking, threat analysis, or identity and access management.
- Exposure to any of the following is a plus: cybersecurity fundamentals such as security controls, vulnerability management, encryption, or threat and risk frameworks, as well as networks, operating systems, databases and SQL, cloud platforms, and scripting or programming.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to meaningful Internal Audit projects that build practical experience in risk assessment, internal controls evaluation, audit testing, documentation, and communicating findings.
- Examine access management, data integrity, network security, and application controls.
- Test automated processes.
- Review system configurations.
- Conduct risk assessments under the guidance of IT Audit leadership.
- Translate findings into recommendations for technologists.
- Partner with interns across the firm on a project tackling a real business challenge and present it to senior leadership.
