About The Position

Kendal~Crosslands Communities is a not-for-profit Life Plan Community (formerly known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community) located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Founded on Quaker values, we offer Independent Living cottages and apartments, Personal Care, and Skilled Nursing all nestled on over 500 acres of rolling countryside in the heart of the Brandywine Valley. We are seeking multiple interns to support various departments including IT, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Early Childhood Development, Grounds/Horticulture, and Life Enrichment. These internships offer valuable hands-on experience and exposure to different aspects of our community and its operations.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in computer sciences, information technology, engineering, or management (IT Internship).
  • Pursuing a degree in marketing, sales, event planning, or senior living services (Sales and Marketing Internship).
  • Pursuing a degree in human resources, business management, or organizational psychology (Human Resources Internship).
  • Pursuing a degree in education, child development, or related fields (Early Childhood Development Internship).
  • Interested in horticulture, environmental studies, or hands-on outdoor work (Grounds / Horticulture Internship).
  • Pursuing a degree in recreation therapy, art therapy, music therapy, social services, or healthcare-related fields (Life Enrichment Internship).

Responsibilities

  • Support staff and residents through troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues (IT Internship).
  • Assist with deploying and maintaining IT infrastructure, tracking and labeling IT assets, and setting up computers and laptops (IT Internship).
  • Support IT projects, maintain data closets, and assist with the proper disposal and documentation of deprecated equipment (IT Internship).
  • Support the Sales and Marketing team in attracting new residents and promoting the community (Sales and Marketing Internship).
  • Work with marketing databases such as Welcome Home and HubSpot, assist with prospect outreach, and support event planning for prospective residents (Sales and Marketing Internship).
  • Participate in project-driven work focused on onboarding development, policy creation and implementation, HR technology initiatives, and auditing staffing functions (Human Resources Internship).
  • Gain exposure to recruitment, retention strategy development, and community partnership initiatives while learning core Human Resources operations (Human Resources Internship).
  • Support classroom activities, child development planning, and daily operations (Early Childhood Development Internship).
  • Gain experience in arboretum collections, natural areas, horticulture, and grounds management (Grounds / Horticulture Internship).
  • Build practical skills in plant identification, landscape problem-solving, and sustainable maintenance (Grounds / Horticulture Internship).
  • Support the Life Enrichment team by assisting with resident activities, events, and engagement programs (Life Enrichment Internship).
  • Gain understanding of the aging process and the physical and cognitive changes of aging (Life Enrichment Internship).
  • Work with the interdisciplinary health services team and gain knowledge of the many aspects of long-term elder care (Life Enrichment Internship).
