About The Position

This internship offers hands-on experience in the operational side of a large-scale construction fleet. Interns will be involved in comprehensive asset audits, compliance management, portfolio optimization, and strategic planning. The role provides exposure to high-level capital expenditure (CapEx) planning and lifecycle cost analysis, along with networking opportunities with industry partners and leadership.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Operations, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data sorting, basic formulas) and comfort learning data integration and asset management software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for coordinating with partner companies and internal stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and the ability to work independently in both office and field environments.
  • Energized by connecting disparate data to create meaningful operational insights that drive data-driven capital investments in the business.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Partner Company fleet contacts to coordinate onsite and remote audits.
  • Manage the project for photo-based validation of equipment to verify existence, location, and current physical condition.
  • Generate detailed condition reports for various asset classes, documenting wear, tear, and likely maintenance needs.
  • Conduct insurance validation for all fleet units to ensure active coverage and regulatory compliance across different jurisdictions.
  • Audit documentation to ensure that asset records match physical tags and serial numbers.
  • Flag out of commission and underutilized units and coordinate the administrative process for asset disposal or liquidation.
  • Digitize and validate titles and ownership documents.
  • Collaborate on the development of asset sub-types and standardized descriptors (e.g., 8’ service body, 12’ bucket truck, 20’ enclosed trailer, etc.).
  • Utilize these sub-types to enable accurate replacement cost estimation.
  • Support the creation of a 7-year quarterly replacement plan, helping the organization forecast capital expenditures and maintain a modern, efficient fleet.
