About The Position

McDermott is seeking an engineering intern to join its Electrical Engineering team. The intern will learn about electrical systems that power process plants and work in a project team environment with peers and mentors. The role involves developing and reviewing engineering documentation while building professional skills and experience.

Requirements

• Recently graduated from, or within two semesters of graduating from, a bachelor's engineering curriculum.
• Strong analytical and mathematics skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time management and professionalism.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
• A growth mindset and willingness to learn and accept improvement feedback.
• Eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with databases.
• Familiarity with AC and DC electrical power system components such as motors, transformers, switchgear, rectification and inverter technology, harmonic filtering, and power factor correction.
• Familiarity with power systems analysis and calculations such as load flow, short circuit, and voltage drop.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review electrical datasheets used to specify equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and UPS systems.
• Support electrical procurement activities.
• Develop and review electrical one-line diagrams, load lists, calculations, and schematic and wiring diagrams.
• Gain exposure to software tools such as ETAP and Smart Electrical on projects.
• Become familiar with codes and standards applicable to electrical engineering and design on projects.
