About The Position

The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. The Community CPR internship will work with the Southeast Community CPR Business Development Manager to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization while assisting with regional Hands Only CPR program support. Requirements

  • College seniors and graduate students pursuing a degree in public policy, communications, public relations, public health, journalism or related fields.
  • Must be familiar with software including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Canva.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, including professional interaction with colleagues.
  • Reliable Wi-Fi connection
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 9am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public policy and/or an interest in non-profit and health care communications is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with schools and districts to assess CPR in Schools kit needs prioritizing needs for future planning
  • Increase the number of schools with CPR in Schools kits by placing kits in priority areas
  • Create assessment for regional hospitals with NICUs for infant kit placement, increasing the number of NICUs providing CPR infant training
  • Collaborate with local and regional teams on CPR kit placements to assist with activating CPR sponsorships
  • Present educational information to large groups (20+ attendees)
  • Maintain detailed spreadsheets and records, ensuring data accuracy for region
  • Identify, review, and develop resources that meet community health needs such as newsletters, playbooks and other tools
  • Communicate with external potential customers to recruit new retail sales opportunities
