About The Position

Terros Health is seeking students enrolled in their Master's Program with an emphasis in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, and other behavioral health specialties for an internship opportunity at our Stapley Drive Health Center in Mesa, AZ. This internship provides a hands-on learning experience where students can apply theoretical knowledge in a professional healthcare setting. Interns will work under the supervision of a qualified Terros Health professional, assisting with clinic operations and gaining comprehensive experience in the behavioral health field. The program aims to equip students with practical skills in conducting intakes, facilitating groups and individual sessions, case management, and patient outreach, preparing them for their academic and professional goals.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's Program with an emphasis in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other behavioral health specialties.
  • Currently enrolled in a supervised field instruction class.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Completion of the pre-student/Intern/Practicum onboarding process, which may include a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or apply for one within 7 working days of assuming the role.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with technology is a plus.
  • Strong presentation skills are highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks related to the student's specific area of study and the Intern learning contract.
  • Apply and continue to learn principles, theory, and knowledge from coursework through practical application.
  • Assist with clinic coverage and clinical staff by conducting initial intakes.
  • Facilitate groups and individual appointments.
  • Provide case management.
  • Offer additional coverage as needed to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Keep copious notes detailing areas of practice and study.
  • Demonstrate clinical skills to successfully move forward with academic and professional goals.
  • Engage in outreach for established patients as per health plan and board stipulations.
