About The Position

Freese and Nichols is recruiting for its Summer 2027 Internship Program, recognized as a Top 100 Internship Program. The program offers interns the chance to grow professionally, build connections, and make a difference by working alongside experienced engineers on projects that strengthen communities, improve infrastructure, and shape the future. Interns will gain hands-on experience in their chosen engineering discipline, explore other technical practice areas, and discover new interests. The program also focuses on professional networking through events, development opportunities, and activities hosted by the Young Professionals Group. Internships are designed to be immersive and collaborative, with daily work in the office to foster strong relationships and learning through mentorship. Relocation and housing stipends are not provided.

Requirements

  • Current student pursuing a BS or MS degree in Civil/Environmental/Water Resource Engineering, Biological and Agricultural/Biosystems Engineering, Structural/Geotechnical/Geological Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (Water Transmission & Utilities only)
  • Graduation date of August 2027 or later

Responsibilities

  • Perform specific and limited tasks within a broader assignment
  • Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations
  • Assist project manager as needed
  • Collect, adjust, and correlate perform calculations, and recognize discrepancies in results
