About The Position

The Intern position provides students or recent graduates with hands-on experience in local government operations through meaningful project-based work, professional development opportunities, and exposure to public service careers. Interns will support departmental initiatives while developing practical workplace skills, communication abilities, and professional knowledge related to their field of study and career interests. This position is designed to provide valuable learning opportunities while assisting departments with operational, administrative, technical, research, or customer service functions. The Culpeper Youth Network functions primarily as the local coordinating body for the Virginia Children’s Services Act (CSA), ensuring appropriate services are identified, authorized, and monitored for eligible youth. The department facilitates interagency case management through the Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) process, coordinating with schools, courts, court services unit, community services board, department of social services, and behavioral health providers to develop individualized service plans for youth with serious emotional, behavioral, or educational needs. Culpeper Youth Network manages CSA funding authorization, service utilization, and compliance with state requirements while ensuring least restrictive, community-based services are prioritized.
