About The Position

This internship position will provide support for water quality and treatment projects. The role involves assisting in laboratory experiments, running and maintaining analytical instrumentation, performing microbiological techniques, conducting wet chemistry, data analysis, literature searches, laboratory organization, materials inventory and safety documentation, pilot testing, pilot maintenance, and presentation and report preparation. The successful candidate will be required to pass a drug screening and a background check. The ideal candidate is a sophomore/junior undergraduate in civil or environmental engineering, has the intention of applying to a graduate program or going into research or consulting post-graduation, and desires a 1 year or longer internship. Knowledge and experience with chemistry, microbiology, or engineering laboratory procedures, mechanical equipment, tools/parts, and piloting is desirable.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related field (e.g., chemistry, water resource, hydrology).
  • Current enrollment with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (undergraduate level) or 3 credit hours per semester (graduate level).
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Available to work approximately 25 hours weekly.
  • A valid Nevada driver’s license.
  • Legal right to work in the US, including authorization to work off-campus.
  • Must attach resume, letter of intent, most recent school schedule, and unofficial transcript in application.
