About The Position
This internship offers real exposure to shelter medicine, high-volume spay/neuter work, and animal care operations that directly impact the community. Interns will build hands-on skills, work alongside experienced professionals, and make a difference in the lives of animals every day.
Requirements
- At least 16 years old
- Interest in veterinary medicine, animal care, or related field
- Ability to follow instructions, stay organized, and work independently
- Strong communication skills and professionalism with staff and public
Nice To Haves
- Basic understanding of medical or lab environments
- Ability to learn equipment such as autoclaves and diagnostic tools
- Comfortable using databases and tracking systems
Responsibilities
- Clean, sterilize, and prepare surgical instruments, packs, and equipment
- Assist with surgery prep, anesthesia support, and post-op recovery monitoring
- Maintain clean, stocked surgical suites, cages, and workspaces
- Support routine medical procedures, lab work, and animal triage
- Accurately document care, treatments, and intake using shelter systems
