About The Position

The Intern will have the opportunity to work directly on the design and engineering of a new theme park attractions alongside industry professionals. This role provides hands-on experience in turning creative concepts into fully realized guest experiences. As part of the Engineering & Safety team, the intern will collaborate with designers, facility team, and contractors to support the engineering design of attraction ride systems. They will gain exposure to the end-to-end attraction development process, from internal concept design through vendor design phases. The intern will assist with the preparation and coordination of design documentation, capturing key details about attraction technical details, operations, and maintenance requirements. They will work with multiple disciplines and trades to ensure that design intent is translated into successful technical execution. This internship offers a unique opportunity to be part of the creative and technical execution of Universal’s next generation of attractions, developing practical skills while contributing to experiences that will inspire millions of guests worldwide.

Requirements

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophmore or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
  • A transcript is required upon application.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Familiarity with engineering design and documentation (drawing, dimensions and tolerances, architectural details)
  • Understanding of reviewing and interpreting specifications and safety standards
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities—able to adapt designs or plans when faced with real-world challenges
  • Comfortable working in a non-routine environment with frequently changing situations.
  • Must have a graduation date later than April 2027.

  • Preferred majors include: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews designs and documentation from vendors, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and specifications.
  • Work with the ride engineering team to solve complex technical challenges to help bring the creative concepts into reality.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
