About The Position

First Merchants is seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic college students for our 12-week paid summer internship program. The Treasury Management Intern will support the Treasury Management Sales team through day-to-day responsibilities, projects, and initiatives that contribute to departmental goals. Responsibilities may include researching client and prospect opportunities, preparing sales and portfolio reviews, supporting pipeline and reporting activities, analyzing treasury management products and services, and assisting with process improvement initiatives. Throughout the internship, they will gain exposure to treasury management sales, relationship management, and commercial banking operations. They will have opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in client-focused projects, and contribute to meaningful initiatives that support departmental goals. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience while developing key skills in sales support, financial analysis, communication, problem-solving, project management, and professional relationship building.

Requirements

  • Be a full-time Bachelor (or higher) degree-seeking student at an accredited college or university.
  • Be available to work 40 hours per week from May 17th - August 6th, 2027.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Have demonstrated interest in the industry and/or specific area of interest.
  • Possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Be able and willing to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint, if applicable.

  • Increase knowledge of the commercial banking industry while developing a consultative, client-focused approach to identifying opportunities, solving business challenges, and delivering value to clients.
