About The Position

The Telecommunications Construction Intern will support the planning, execution, and delivery of network infrastructure construction projects. This role provides hands-on exposure to large-scale telecommunications initiatives, including fiber optic deployments, HFC upgrades, and related infrastructure builds. The intern will work closely with project managers, construction teams, engineering, and vendor partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This position is ideal for students interested in telecommunications, construction management, civil engineering, or project management in a fast-paced, field-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in: Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Telecommunications / Electrical Engineering, Business, Project Management or related field
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with project tracking tools is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel locally to job sites as needed

Responsibilities

  • Assist in tracking construction project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Support daily coordination between field teams, contractors, engineering, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress and help identify schedule risks or delays.
  • Participate in site visits to observe fiber, coaxial, and network infrastructure construction activities.
  • Support field teams with documentation, inspections, and progress validation.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and construction best practices.
  • Maintain project records, including permits, schedules, change orders, and cost tracking.
  • Assist in preparing status reports, dashboards, and executive updates.
  • Document lessons learned and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support coordination with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Track contractor performance against scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Assist in reviewing invoices, work completion reports, and deliverables.
  • Assist in monitoring project budgets and tracking incremental costs.
  • Support analysis of variances and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Help ensure accurate documentation for approvals and financial reporting.
  • Promote a culture of safety across all job sites.
  • Support compliance with company standards, local regulations, and permitting requirements.
  • Participate in safety audits and documentation processes.
