About The Position

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) is seeking an intern to support the NonDestructive Testing department. This role involves performing various NDT inspections and interfacing with engineering, manufacturing, and production personnel to help resolve manufacturing issues based on NDT results. The internship is year-round and located on-site in Lincoln, NE. Interns and co-ops at GD-OTS provide support to technical employees, assist with technical tasks and project support, set up equipment, monitor tests, collect data, and learn technical processes. They may also support documentation updates and job shadow experienced professionals.

Requirements

Must be currently enrolled in related Technical courses or be within 6 months of graduation; No prior experience needed.
Must be enrolled in a technical college or degree-seeking program.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Oral and written communication skills.
Attentiveness.
Ability to understand and follow directions.

Nice To Haves

Working towards completion of an Associate Degree in NonDestructive Testing.
Completed Radiation Safety training through an approved curriculum that meets the requirements of the Department of Health and Human Services for the State of Nebraska.

Responsibilities

Perform Computed Radiography Inspections.
Perform Ultrasonic Inspections (A-Scan & C-Scan).
Perform Penetrant Inspections.
Interfacing as required with Engineering, Manufacturing and Production personnel.
Helping to solve manufacturing problems from NDT results.
Provides support to technical employees working in an organizational function related to the Intern's area of study.
Assists with technical tasks and project support.
Supports equipment set up and monitors tests and experiments.
Observes results, collects data, and compiles summaries and reports.
Learns technical processes and procedures.
Job shadows other more experienced professionals and or support staff.
May also support the documentation & updates of procedures or work instructions.
