About The Position

Hilltop Securities Inc. is currently looking for qualified students to join our Structured Finance team as a Summer Intern. This individual will work closely with our Structured Finance to gain hands-on experience in the profession while assisting with several key initiatives across the company. They will develop entry-level experience in the financial services industry, including development and delivery of initiatives, and effective practices.

Requirements

• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
• Undergraduate or graduate degree candidate in math (or Actuarial Science), statistics, physics, engineering, computer science, data science
• An interest in finance and financial markets
• Computer hardware, operating system (Windows or Mac), and software/application (MS Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook etc.) skills
• Some Programming skills: Python, VBA required, SQL or C++ is a plus
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
• Proven self-starter who can initiate tasks and follow up to completion
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

• Some experience (0 – 1 year) is preferred but not required
• Prior work experience or an internship at a finance company would be a plus

Responsibilities

• Experience on a full-service sales and trading desk – this individual will learn about products traded including treasury, agency, corporate, municipal, and mortgage-backed bonds.
• This person will also work on the taxable fixed income trading desk with Traders and Assistants on various projects using Bloomberg, Excel, and firm platforms.
• Work directly with Traders and Sales team
• Learn desk technique and strategy
