About The Position

The Innovation, Technology & Products (ITP) organization is responsible for developing the next generation of memory technologies and enabling future Micron products. At Albany Nanotech, Micron is establishing a leading-edge research and development presence focused on advanced lithography, materials innovation, technology pathfinding, and strategic semiconductor ecosystem partnerships. Albany serves as a key location for accelerating technology development and expanding collaboration across leading research institutions, equipment suppliers, and industry partners. Micron is seeking highly motivated Master's and PhD students to join our Summer 2027 Semiconductor Technology Development Internship Program in Albany, New York. As an intern, you will work alongside engineers and researchers developing future semiconductor technologies, advanced process capabilities, and next-generation memory solutions. You will contribute to meaningful technical projects, gain hands-on experience in semiconductor research and development, and present your work to engineering leadership at the conclusion of your internship. This role is ideal for students who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, working with advanced technologies, and contributing to innovations that will shape the future of the semiconductor industry.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in: Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Related STEM discipline
  • Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within collaborative teams
  • Demonstrated interest in advanced technology research and development

Nice To Haves

  • Semiconductor manufacturing, research, or laboratory experience
  • Cleanroom experience
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as JMP, Python, R, MATLAB, or similar software
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and experimental design
  • Experience conducting independent research projects
  • Technical publications, conference presentations, or research experience preferred
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools, advanced analytics platforms, or computational methods to improve engineering, research, data analysis, or problem-solving workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Support semiconductor research and development activities
  • Design and execute engineering experiments
