About The Position

The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. We have an exciting opportunity for an intern on our School Engagement Team. As an intern supporting our fundraising campaigns, you will play a key role in driving engagement and participation, ensuring a positive experience for supporters. Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the fundraising, planning, execution, logistics, and follow-up of life-saving initiatives. Requirements

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, sales, nonprofit management, marketing, event planning, or public relations.
  • Must be comfortable with customer outreach (phone calls & emails to donors).
  • Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
  • Experience with event planning.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Reliable WiFi Connection and reliable transportation.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between regular public school hours of 7:30am-4:30pm.
  • Must be available Super Bowl Week – February 8 – 14, 2027.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using a CRM is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge, service-learning fundraising programs that teach healthy habits, build character and foster a sense of purpose while raising lifesaving funds.
  • Driving revenue, leading student assemblies, and supporting program execution and volunteer and donor engagement.
  • Conducting outreach to schools, representing the team at multiple events, and helping manage exciting projects from start to finish.
  • Assisting with volunteer management including prepping for and attending externally facing meetings (both in-person and virtual).
  • Traveling to schools and other event sites for in-person engagement.
  • Assisting with multiple events leading up to the NFL Super Bowl, where the Association is supporting.
  • Managing customer relationships, including documentation in a customer relationship management (CRM) system.
