Smith+Nephew seeks a Intern to join the Global Robotics team for the summer, supporting the evolution of our pre-op planning and data management portfolios. This role will allow an enthusiastic individual to work closely with the Global Robotics marketing team and cross-functional stakeholders to explore solutions to expanding the pre-op planning portfolio and where best to integrate data into the planning process across procedural indications. This role offers exposure to surgeons, cadaveric labs, medical and sales education events, and the real-world commercialization of advanced surgical technology. The position will be based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Business, Marketing, Engineering, Biomedical, Health Sciences, or related field).
  • Tech-savvy, with a strong interest in medical technology, robotics, or innovation.
  • Comfortable interacting directly with orthopedic surgeons and clinical professionals.
  • Demonstrates confidence and professionalism in customer-facing settings.
  • Highly organized and able to work well in a collaborative, fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment and under pressure.
  • Exceptional ability to synthesize complex information into clear guidelines and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support Global Robotics Platform initiatives by translating customer, clinical, and business inputs into clear project narratives, requirements, and recommendations.
  • Define the surgeon value drivers, and barriers for adoption of pre-op planning (what would make surgeons use it, where it fits in workflow, and what differentiating features matter).
  • Develop a high-level scope and structure for data driven inputs to pre-op and intra-op planning (inputs, outputs, users, workflow touchpoints, and key assumptions).
  • Conduct market research to inform portfolio gaps.
