About The Position
This internship position in the Respiratory Therapy department at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham involves providing evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, consistent with a student's scope of practice. The intern will administer medications and treatments under supervision, deliver and assess patient response to ordered therapy, monitor and communicate patient condition, and provide patient education.
Requirements
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
- High school diploma equivalency AND Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline.
Responsibilities
- Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies consistent with student scope of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments based on patient outcomes, under appropriate supervision.
- Deliver and assess patient response to ordered therapy.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition.
- Provide patient education for diseases, medications, and treatment.
