Intern - Respiratory Therapy
About The Position
This internship position in the Respiratory Therapy department at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience. Interns will evaluate and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies within the scope of their student practice. They will administer medications and treatments under supervision, deliver and assess patient responses to ordered therapy, monitor and communicate patient conditions, and provide patient education. Requirements
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
- High school diploma equivalency AND Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline.
Responsibilities
- Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies consistent with student scope of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments based on patient outcomes, under appropriate supervision.
- Deliver and assess patient response to ordered therapy.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition.
- Provide patient education for diseases, medications, and treatment.
