About The Position

This internship gives a college student the opportunity to learn about capital markets and portfolio management for an insurance company, with a focus on fixed income investments. The intern will assist with day-to-day portfolio management and monitor investment-grade, high-yield, leveraged-loan, equity, and alternative securities.

Requirements

• Be a college sophomore, junior, or senior working toward a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
• Have proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Be analytical and detail-oriented, with excellent research skills.
• Be able to collaboratively solve problems using verbal and written communication skills.
• Be able to organize work and execute a wide range of tasks logically.
• Have good decision-making and documentation skills to interact effectively with team members.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant internship experience in the financial services industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the portfolio, economic data, and capital markets daily.
• Assist with developing the macroeconomic outlook and tactical portfolio positioning, and present at internal meetings.
• Oversee portfolio liquidity positions based on asset and liability cash flows.
• Enhance monitoring of the portfolio’s strategic and tactical positioning.
• Enhance portfolio reporting.
• Collaborate with Nassau departments, particularly actuarial, treasury, product development, and strategic initiatives.
• Participate in investment-review due-diligence calls with sector teams.
• Assist in preparing presentation materials.
