About The Position

The work involves participating in the interpretation, compounding and dispensing of pharmaceutical preparations at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. This is a training position in the field of pharmaceuticals which enables the individual to secure additional education and experience in the preparation of generic compounds and drugs as permitted by applicable laws, rules and regulations. Work is performed under the supervision of licensed pharmacist. Does related work as required.

Requirements

• Possession of a Pharmacy Limited (Intern) Permit as issued by the New York State Department of Education at time of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment

Responsibilities

• Assists a licensed pharmacist in the interpretation, compounding and dispensing of various medications
• Under direction of a licensed pharmacist manufactures and packages various pharmaceuticals and maintains appropriate records
• Under direct supervision, prepares various drugs and keeps appropriate records
• Reviews drugs literature to establish possible patient incompatibility with specific drugs
• Assists in physical inventory of the pharmacy and keeps necessary records
• Assists in nursing unit inspections and distributes drugs and medication to appropriate nursing units
