The Port's Parks & Recreation department is committed to creating a vibrant waterfront through public service and cultural programming. The Parks & Recreation internship offers hands-on experience in public service and customer service by supporting waterfront events, interacting with the community and its visitors. Responsibilities include assisting with coordinating special events, supporting research and program evaluation, developing presentations and outreach materials, and providing project and administrative support, as needed. With general supervision, provides part-time employment opportunities for college level interns to perform job assignments that are closely related to their area of study. Any college or graduate level student may apply for consideration for vacancies. This is an in-person position, hybrid or remote schedules are not available. Total scheduled work hours shall not exceed 25 hours per work week (Monday through Friday, weekends and evenings as needed). Intern positions do not include benefits and are not eligible to receive paid leave, paid holidays, retirement and/or any type of insurance. Duties and responsibilities assigned to Interns will vary depending on the department they are assigned. At the discretion of the appointing authority, intern assignments may continue for a total period of up to two (2) years, including up to one (1) year following graduation, subject to program needs, funding availability, and satisfactory performance and conduct.
