About The Position

The program is designed to introduce exceptional New York City public high school students to the legal profession through hands-on work experience, mentorship, and direct access to leading legal and financial institutions. This role provides basic administrative support for a variety of assignments and projects. Interns can gain practical work experience through hands-on assignments, structured training and mentorship. Also, interns collaborate in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Rising senior in high school OR rising freshman in college (i.e., graduating high school the spring of the program year)
  • NYC public HS student (or graduate of a NYC public HS)
  • Resident of the New York City metropolitan area
  • Demonstrated interest in law, business, or public service
  • Solid skills in Microsoft office to include Word and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner
  • Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product
  • Successfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as required
  • Foster positive work relationships
  • Comply with all firm policies and practices
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Perform all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned.

  • Some previous office or internship experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs administrative duties to include creating and editing documents, maintaining spreadsheets, and analyzing basic data.
  • Researches information, gathers data and prepares basic reports or analyses.
  • Collates documents, brochures or other materials.
  • Prepares basic correspondence.
  • Accesses document management system to update and/or create new documents as needed.
  • Attends and participates in meetings to gain an understanding of department objectives and recent activities.
  • Assists on special projects and assignments.
  • Answers phones, files and responds to questions as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
