About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our Engineering Team located in Bloomfield, CT! This is a 12-week paid internship program designed for motivated students to work on impactful projects and gain real-world experience, all while supporting Labcorp's mission to improve health and improve lives. The Engineering Department at the Protedyne subsidiary of Labcorp develops smarter, faster robots to optimize efficiency in Labcorp’s diagnostic testing laboratories across the world. As a Labcorp intern, you’ll be immersed in hands-on work that complements your academic background. In addition to your project work, you’ll gain valuable exposure to Labcorp’s global business, culture, and leadership through enterprise-wide learning experiences, leadership exposure and visibility, an immersive in-person intern event, senior leader speaker sessions, continuous opportunities to connect and grow, connection to Labcorp’s inclusive culture through engagement with employee resource groups (ERGs) and values-driven community initiatives, and dedicated mentoring connections.

Requirements

Current enrollment in Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
Strong analytical ability capable of understanding complex systems with multiple variables
Candidate must be a good team player and possess good organizational skills
Must be able to clearly communicate technical ideas, both orally and in writing, to internal and external customers
Must have a desire to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment
Desire to take personal ownership of assigned tasks while working within a team on large projects

Nice To Haves

3-6 months experience using solid-modeling CAD software (SolidWorks)
3-6 months experience and knowledge of electro-mechanical components
3-6 months ability to produce basic CAD drawings, blueprints and schematics
Experience with 3D printing is a plus
Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2027 through June 2029 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

Assist engineers in designing and developing hardware for complex robotic systems
Perform testing or assembly or troubleshooting or debugging of either mechanical or electro-mechanical prototypes or software and provide feedback to the appropriate team
