About The Position

1X is building humanoid robots designed to perform household chores and tasks, aiming to give people back their time. This requires solving challenges in robotics, AI, and manufacturing simultaneously, at scale, and in a safe form factor for home environments. The company is scaling and hiring with intention to build robots that will genuinely change how humans spend their time, creating abundance safely for all. The Manufacturing Engineering team is crucial in transforming designs into robots that can be built repeatedly, reliably, and at volume. They own the processes, fixtures, and assembly methods, ensuring that every revision is easier and faster to produce. If a design cannot be manufactured repeatably, it does not ship, placing the team's work on the critical path for delivering robots to homes.

Requirements

Hands-on experience in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar).
Comfortable doing physical work, including setup, assembly, and post-processing.
Currently studying engineering or a related field.

Nice To Haves

Prior work on manufacturing processes, fixturing, robotics, mechatronics, or general hardware projects.
Exposure to design for manufacturability, process validation, or production scale-up.

Responsibilities

Develop and document repeatable manufacturing and assembly processes for prototype and pre-production parts.
Build and improve fixtures, jigs, and workflows to reduce build time, scrap, and rework.
Own process validation and durability testing for supported parts and assemblies, identifying failure modes and driving fixes.
Produce and maintain accurate CAD and process documentation.
Partner with design and engineering to drive design-for-manufacturability improvements.
