About The Position

This internship offers opportunities for problem-solving and innovation, requiring an understanding of broader issues within manufacturing engineering. The role involves making moderate enhancements or improvements to systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness. The intern will work under general supervision, potentially managing projects or processes within their job area, and may be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees. Communication with internal and external contacts to explain operational processes, practices, and procedures is expected. The role aims to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results. A key requirement is the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical Engineering, chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with soldering and/or basic electronic manufacturing processes
  • Experience with basic CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, etc. etc.)
  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Yellow or Green Belt
  • Experience with Minitab, JMP, or other statistical software

Responsibilities

  • Make moderate enhancements or improvements to systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area.
  • Engage in problem-solving and innovation, potentially requiring understanding of broader sets of issues.
  • Solve problems by drawing from prior experiences and analysis of issues.
  • Communicate with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Recommend enhancements to systems and processes.
  • Work to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.
  • Work under general supervision.
  • May be responsible for entire projects or processes within job area.
  • May be responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.
  • May manage projects with responsibility for the delegation of work and the review of others' work product.
  • Obtain a US Security Clearance.
