About The Position

This internship focuses on making moderate enhancements or improvements to systems and processes to solve problems or improve the effectiveness of the job area. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are general and may require understanding of broader sets of issues, but are typically not complex. Problems may require understanding of other job areas and are usually solved by drawing from prior experiences with analysis of the issues. The role involves working under general supervision, potentially managing projects or processes, and communicating with internal and external contacts to explain operational processes. Recommendations for system and process enhancements will be made, and the intern will work towards achieving operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results. There may be opportunities for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees, and potentially managing projects with responsibility for delegating work and reviewing others' work product. A key requirement is the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with soldering and/or basic electronic manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with basic CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Yellow or Green Belt.
  • Experience with Minitab, JMP, or other statistical software.
