About The Position

We are looking for ambitious movie-obsessed students to join our IMAX Internship Program this Summer. This 10-week program focuses on hands-on learning, skill development, and real-world work experience in a collaborative and innovative environment. The internship will take place from June to August in the Sheridan Park office. This role is for a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to join the IT team, focusing on Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Operations. It offers hands-on experience in data management and AI, with a focus on parsing and analyzing metadata from documents to support broader data and AI initiatives. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in data, emerging technologies, and contributing to impactful projects.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of metadata and its role in data management and AI
  • Proficiency in Python or R, especially with data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy)
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar

Nice To Haves

  • Previous coursework or project experience in data analysis, metadata, or programming
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and data services such as Snowflake
  • Understanding of data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
  • Interest in machine learning concepts and how metadata supports AI development

Responsibilities

  • Extract, process, and analyze metadata from various document types
  • Develop and use scripts or tools to automate metadata extraction processes
  • Ensure metadata quality, consistency, and alignment with project requirements
  • Collaborate with BI and business teams to integrate metadata into data pipelines
  • Support data preparation for machine learning models and AI initiatives
  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies that may impact AI outcomes
  • Create clear documentation for processes and workflows
  • Assist in generating reports and visualizations based on metadata insights
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand project goals and data needs
  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and problem-solving discussions
  • Stay updated on trends and tools in metadata management and AI
