About The Position

The Ontario Teachers’ Infrastructure & Natural Resources (INR) group is seeking dedicated self-starters for an Investment Intern position. This role offers the opportunity to learn about executing investment opportunities and managing existing investments within the growing infrastructure and natural resources sectors. The ideal candidate is an excellent teammate, capable of handling multiple projects and passionate about investing. This internship is scheduled from January to April 2027, with two positions available.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree with a concentration in investments, finance, or accounting.
  • Previous intern experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or equity research.
  • Specific infrastructure or natural resources experience required.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and ability to perform in-depth analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and initiatives while remaining detail-oriented.
  • Must be enrolled in 3rd / 4th year or related Masters’ program.
  • Must be enrolled in a co-op program or returning back to your studies after the work term is completed.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the country where this role is located.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the team in analyzing potential new investment opportunities.
  • Managing existing investments.
  • Analyzing investment opportunities to hone financial modelling abilities.
  • Identifying key value drivers and risks for investments and performing related sensitivity and scenario analyses.
  • Supporting due diligence exercises.
  • Preparing valuations, presentations, and reports to senior investment professionals.
  • Developing and analyzing business cases for portfolio company value creation initiatives (debt refinancings, expansion projects, management compensation, on-going budgeting, etc.).
