About The Position

Pima County's Finance & Risk Management Department is seeking a dynamic, motivated part-time intern to join their Internal Audit – Procedures and Training Division. The successful candidate will work as an intern assisting in evaluating and documenting processes and internal controls for County Departments. Duties may include performing financial data analysis; examining compliance with relevant laws, regulations, contracts, grant terms and bond requirements; and reviewing internal controls for computer software used by County departments. They will work as a member of an internal audit team under the supervision of an Internal Audit Supervisor or Internal Auditor II. NOTE: This internship position is in-person and in-office. This classification is in the unclassified service and is exempt from the Pima County Merit System Rules.

Requirements

  • Recent graduate from or currently a sophomore, junior, or senior at an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, business analytics, or a closely related field.
  • Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application.
  • Some positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or appointment. Failure to obtain / maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.
  • The County requires pre-employment background checks.
  • Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history.
  • Some positions may require completion of a satisfactory personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree (or higher) in accounting or finance.
  • Current junior or senior enrolled at an accredited college or university, or have graduated from an accredited institution within the past twelve (12) months.
  • Cash handling, accounts payable, or accounts receivable experience.
