Our Information Security team plays a critical role in protecting our customers, products, and global operations. We are seeking an Information Security Communications Intern who is customer‑centric, collaborative, and passionate about clear, impactful communication to support internal and external information security initiatives. This internship offers hands‑on experience working with a diverse, global group of stakeholders while supporting a fast‑moving, innovative security organization within the Utilities & Energy sector.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Technical Writing, or a related field
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to distill complex or technical topics into clear, concise, and engaging content
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional and global stakeholders in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a fast‑paced, evolving technology environment
  • High level of accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering accurate, high‑quality work
  • Customer‑centric mindset with an interest in how communication supports security, trust, and positive business outcomes
  • Ability to work on‑site 2–3 days per week in Liberty Lake, WA as part of a hybrid schedule

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in information security, technology, or risk management within the Utilities & Energy sector
  • Experience creating content across multiple formats, such as presentations, intranet articles, newsletters, or training materials
  • Familiarity with collaboration and content tools such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, or similar platforms
  • Exposure to working with global or cross‑cultural teams
  • Creative and innovative thinker who enjoys improving processes and finding more effective ways to communicate important information

Responsibilities

  • Support the Information Security team by creating clear, engaging, and audience‑appropriate communications, including presentations, internal announcements, training materials, and security awareness content
  • Translate complex or technical information security concepts into accessible, authentic messaging that supports customer trust and organizational accountability
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners across engineering, IT, legal, and global business teams in an agile and inclusive environment
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of security awareness and education materials that reinforce responsible behavior and shared accountability
  • Coordinate communications for global information security initiatives, ensuring clarity, consistency, and cultural awareness across regions
  • Edit, proofread, and refine content to ensure accuracy, tone, and alignment with Itron’s brand, values, and customer‑centric mindset
  • Contribute innovative ideas to improve how information security messages are delivered, understood, and adopted across the organization
  • Participate actively in team meetings and projects, demonstrating curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn in a dynamic technology environment
