About The Position

The IEC Engineering team designs, commissions, and supports the control systems that help Tallgrass operate safely and efficiently. The team programs PLCs and HMIs, develop project documentation and company standards, and provides support for instrumentation, electrical, and control systems. There's a big focus on building tools that improve workflows, support engineering efficiency, and contribute to meaningful projects that impact day-to-day operations. You will work side by side with experienced professionals as contributing members of diverse work teams who bring vision and opportunity to the forefront. As a Tallgrass Intern, you will partner with various departments in support of multiple projects on existing assets and operations, as well as the exploration and development of new avenues and opportunities. The internship is intended to help you develop your work skills and knowledge while providing a link between your educational goals and career objectives.

Requirements

  • Students actively enrolled in an approved Bachelor’s degree program with expected graduation date of December 2026 through May 2028
  • Proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Passion for innovation and problem-solving, as well as a continuous drive to improve processes.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software applications and platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about Instrumentation, Electrical, and Controls by helping the IEC team deploy and support industrial automation control systems, including PLCs and HMIs.
  • Assist with projects to implement new control systems and upgrade existing infrastructure.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and gain practical experience with PLCs, instrumentation, and electrical gear.
  • Establish a deep understanding of HMI applications and Python programming by helping to manage and improve a standard library of programming objects and templates deployed company wide.
  • Learn how to execute challenging and innovative Oil and Gas and Green Energy projects.
  • Learn how to play a key role assisting in the development of company standards.
  • Gain valuable experience working alongside engineers and operations teams.
