About The Position

PRIME AE is seeking an Intern – Engineering Land to join their Louisville, KY office. This role is designed for a motivated student pursuing a Civil Engineering degree or a related field, who is eager to gain practical experience in land development and infrastructure projects. The intern will collaborate with seasoned engineers and technical staff, contributing to significant projects and learning about the planning, design, and construction processes that shape communities. Through mentorship and teamwork, the intern will apply academic knowledge to real-world projects in commercial, municipal, educational, residential, and recreational sectors. This internship offers valuable technical experience and insight into the daily tasks of engineering professionals within PRIME AE's Land practice.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student with an interest in land development, infrastructure, or engineering design.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and land development concepts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel occasionally to project sites, if needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other engineering design software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams with the preparation of plans, exhibits, reports, and construction documents.
  • Support engineers with technical calculations, quantity estimates, and project analyses.
  • Assist with the design and development of site, utility, drainage, grading, stormwater, and other land-related infrastructure improvements.
  • Conduct research and gather project data to support engineering studies and reports.
  • Utilize engineering software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with engineers, planners, landscape architects, surveyors, and other technical professionals.
  • Assist with reviewing plans, specifications, and permitting requirements.
  • Participate in field visits and construction observations as needed.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
