Intern (Engineering/Drafting)

BHE•Watson, VA
•$23 - $28•Onsite

About The Position

BHE GT&S is offering a summer internship for a sophomore, junior, or senior studying engineering or drafting. The position is based on site at the Leesburg Station in Leesburg, Virginia, where the intern will gain exposure to a functioning natural gas transmission facility and apply classroom knowledge to engineering and drafting work supporting reliable energy infrastructure. The internship lasts at least eight weeks and begins June 7, 2027. It may be extended depending on the intern’s summer schedule and business needs, and an earlier start or later end may be possible. An independent means of transportation is needed because public transportation options in the area are limited. Candidates who live 50 miles or more from the assigned work location may be eligible for a one-time housing stipend. The intern will review and update technical drawings, system configuration documentation, and facility operating procedures; redline as-built drawings to capture field changes; label and identify process-flow components; and verify documentation through inspections and field walk downs. The position involves collaborating with engineers, drafters, and technicians, as well as managing assigned priorities independently. The intern will also use Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare reports, maintain spreadsheets, document findings, and communicate technical information. Work is performed in a safety-conscious environment and may include outdoor field activities and the use of safety gear. Site activities may require working at heights and in confined spaces. The intern is expected to contribute to a respectful, team-oriented workplace and support the company’s CHAMPION culture, centered on personal responsibility, continuous improvement, and quality for customers. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation.
