Alaska Airlines•SeaTac, WA
•Onsite

About The Position

Alaska Airlines is hiring a full-time, 12-week summer 2027 intern for its Engine Vendor Maintenance team. The internship is based in SeaTac, Washington, and candidates who do not already live in the internship city must relocate for the internship. Interns work on visible projects across the company and have opportunities to gain hands-on experience and network with employees and leaders through intern events and programming. The internship is intended to provide skill development and work experience; it does not guarantee future employment. Two program timelines are available to align with different academic calendars. The intern will analyze engine maintenance and shop visit data, develop forecasts for future maintenance expenditures, and build dashboards and analytical tools to monitor costs, forecast accuracy, and fleet performance. The role also conducts fleet-wide analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve maintenance planning, budget development, and asset management.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Interest in aviation, aerospace, or transportation industries.
  • Exposure to project management concepts or tools such as MS Project, Asana, or Smartsheet.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze historical engine shop visit data to identify cost drivers, evaluate removal causes, assess shop visit scope levels, and quantify fall-out impacts across the engine fleet.
  • Develop cost forecasting models using historical maintenance events, removal trends, shop visit classifications, and reliability data to project future engine maintenance expenditures.
  • Create reporting dashboards and analytical tools to monitor shop visit costs, forecast accuracy, and fleet maintenance performance metrics for leadership and operational stakeholders.
  • Conduct fleet-wide cost and performance analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for optimizing maintenance planning, budget development, and asset management strategies.
  • Embody company values: own safety, do the right thing, be caring and kind, and deliver performance.
