About The Position

The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides college students with hands-on experience in various facets of a non-profit, voluntary health organization. This specific internship is with the Bay Area Development Team, focusing on supporting fundraising campaigns. The intern will play a key role in driving engagement and participation, ensuring a positive experience for supporters. Responsibilities include tasks contributing to the fundraising, planning, execution, logistics, and follow-up of life-saving initiatives. Requirements

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, nonprofit management, sales, marketing, event planning, public relations, or public health with a fundraising focus.
  • Must be comfortable with outreach and public speaking (phone calls & emails to vendors & donors as well as giving presentations).
  • Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
  • Experience with event planning.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva.
  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
  • Must have reliable transportation or access to major public transportation.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of fundraising activities, logistics, and administrative support for the Bay Area market.
  • Working with the Development and Operations teams to support fundraising campaigns.
  • Assisting with event auctions, including outreach for donations and organizing items.
  • Organizing and planning health education events for companies.
  • Providing assistance with pre-campaign planning, day-of event execution, and post-campaign wrap-up projects.
  • Executing external calls and emails to donors, volunteers, and 3rd party vendors.
  • Working within event support systems to help manage data entry and run reports.
  • Developing and updating marketing materials for campaigns, including save the dates, invitations, social media posts, volunteer rosters, and other needed collateral.
  • Assisting with volunteer management, including preparing for and attending externally facing meetings (both in-person and virtual).
  • Conducting prospect research to generate new leads and compile information for fundraising campaigns.
